THE DESIGN PROCESS—Web Design

I want to be your strategic partner. Purchasing a domain and putting pretty pictures on a page will not automatically position you in a place of success. It takes planning, creativity, well-written content, and a well designed brand for your audience to take notice. I will guarantee elevated attention, site longevity, and client confidence to connect with your brand image.

What makes the process successful is having the right partnership. I’ve recently started asking, “Are we a good fit?” Most of the time we are but it is ok if we aren’t. It is ok to interview a creative professional, find out if our styles match, if we will be good collaborators, and if we just plain like each other. Below is my design process. 01: Let’s introduce ourselves.

  1. Yeah! You have looked at my work and you think we may be a good fit. Fill out the contact form and choose a time to chat. This is a no-strings opportunity to discuss your business needs.

Building a website begins with self-discovery, which includes brainstorming, defining and gathering, so that’s exactly where I will begin with your journey.

  1. During the one-hour session of discovery (well, we shoot for an hour but I am a talker so you may want to schedule 1.5 hours), I will start the discovery process and identify your business needs. Is this a portfolio site, e-commerce site, a site where the primary need is client scheduling, are you using your site to show you are an expert in your field by blogging, do you need to build your client list through your site?

  2. We will also discuss your content, image library, business brand, your launch strategy, either register or transfer your domain so that when we begin the process these things are in place and the process can streamlined.

  3. In this session we will also determine which team members you may need to build your site—a copywriter, a photographer, an SEO expert—After this session, I will create your personalized package and send an estimate for you to review.

03. On Boarding.

  1. Once the invoice is approved, we will start the on-boarding process. This includes a deposit, a production schedule specifically for your project that includes milestones to keep everyone on track, signing contracts, a welcome package, and any templates that may be needed such as content writing, creating your image library, and approving your template.

  2. Basic Website “Just a Landing Page”—4 pages (landing page, about page, contact page, services) with brand and photos established is estimated to take 2-3 weeks with a lot of collaboration with the team.

  3. Website Design + E-commerce—basic set-up with brand, photos, and product photos and descriptions written is estimated to take 4-8 weeks with a lot of collaboration with the team.

04. Let’s start designing!

Finally, all of the contracts, prelim research and writing is done, images are beautiful and in an image library, your favorite website samples have been reviewed, we can finally start designing and proofing your site.

05. Proofing, Training, and Launch

We are almost done!

  1. The final steps include the click-through and approvals, confirming settings in your dashboard, setting up email accounts, transferring domains (hopefully, I set up your domain so no need to transfer), reviewing the e-commerce settings, finalizing the sales funnel, and billing.

  2. Once everything is in place, we will have a zoom training where I teach you all the behind-the-scenes settings so you can update the site yourself. Yeah! No need to bog down the updating process while you wait for me to carve out a spot in my production schedule. I am confident that you will handle this like a pro.
